SRFI Felicitation

The year 2014 has become one of the most productive period in India’s squash history. Starting with the world junior boys’ championship until the latest, the Asian Games in Incheon, the country has seen a flurry of performances and medals that culminated with the historic gold medal for the Indian men’s team in Incheon.

The year 2014 has become one of the most productive period in India’s squash history. Starting with the world junior boys’ championship until the latest,  the Asian Games in Incheon, the country has seen a flurry of performances and medals that culminated with the historic gold medal for the Indian men’s team in Incheon.

Equally creditworthy was the milestone that women passed  with a first ever gold medal in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow earlier. Not to forget was Kush Kumar who became the first Indian male player to win a bronze medal in a world championship.  In between the squash fraternity  savoured the good news of Anaka Alankamony getting the Arjuna Award.  For the Indian Squash Academy too this is a momentous occasion for seven of the eight players (except Mahesh Mangaonkar) who figured in bringing about the happy tidings have been part of the Academy.

The Squash Rackets Federation of India has come forward to organize a felicitation function on the eve of the Junior national final, to recognize and honour the architects of this recent path breaking   journey of Indian squash.

The good show in a nutshell:  Dipika Pallikal & Joshana Chinappa (CWG Doubles Gold Medal); Dipika Pallikal, Joshana Chinappa, Anaka Alankamony & Aparajitha Balamurukan (Asian Games Team Silver Medal); Dipika Pallikal (Asian Games Individual Bronze Medal); Saurav Ghosal, Mahesh Mangaonkar, Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu, Kush Kumar (Asian Games Team Gold Medal); Saurav Ghosal (Asian Games Individual Silver Medal); Kush Kumar (World Juniors Individual Bronze Medal); Anaka Alankamony (Arjuna Award 2014)
