Hopes of an extended Indian presence in this US event, a part of PSA world tour programme ended abruptly with Joshna Chinappa's exit in the quarterfinal. The highest ranked Indian had done well in the first round with a fighting win over an energetic Egyptian qualifier Salma Hany Ibrahim 12-10,11-9, 11-8 after having had to come back from arrears in each game. But in the quarterfinal next, she could not stand up to the efficiency of Sarah Jane-Perry of England. The English player, was seeded 7 as compared to Joshna's four but ranked 11 in the world, she carved out a comfortable 11-6, 11-6, 11-3 win. Earlier Dipika Pallikal Karthik, unlucky to be drawn to meet second seed Camille Serme who had come to this tournament after her triumph in the US Open. The Indian managed but one game before the French player completed a 11-8, 7-11,11-3, 13-11 win.
